The Bahamas Democratic Movement was created out of a sense of purpose, nationalism and a desire for concrete and tangible change necessary for the overall benefit to the Bahamian masses. Since 1967 to the present the PLP and the FNM have dominated the political arena in The Bahamas but have offered little more than misrepresentation, cronyism, nepotism, scandal and a complete disregard for the best interests of the Bahamian people.
The Bahamas Democratic Movement has offered itself as a viable and ready alternative to the politics of arrogance and complacency. We have committed ourselves to providing workable and effective solutions to combat the social ills impacting our society and to engender a society where the economic success finds it way into the pockets of working class Bahamians. The BDM has also committed itself to ridding The Bahamas of a mediocre, do-nothing style of governance which largely ignores the will of the Bahamian people, disrespects the Constitution and accepts bureaucratic slowness and unresponsiveness to the people's needs as a governmental reality.
It is our firm belief in the BDM that our government should be stable but should not stand still. Therefore, we will eradicate the systemic injustices and abuses that have been apparent over the last 40 years and replace them with the best practices to ensure the overall development and progress of The Bahamas in the 21st century. Our country is indeed ready for overwhelming operational change in our politics and governance and way of life. The BDM is willing, capable and certainly ready to usher in this new era as the standard bearer on behalf of the Bahamian people. We will do so with vigor, integrity, fairness and a genuine desire to provide a level playing field for working class Bahamians.
As you navigate our site we hope that you will partner with us by way of your support, volunteerism, vote, donations or any manner in which you are willing and able to assist the BDM in becoming the next Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
"The Dogmas of the Quiet Past are Inadequate to the Stormy Present...We Must Think Anew and Act Anew. We Must Disenthrall Ourselves and then We Shall Save Our Country." --President Abraham Lincoln.
